about

PORTL&

Just the beginning

Everything we create—from installations to workshops to public collaborations—is driven by a belief in the power of art to bring people together. We see immersive experiences not just as entertainment, but as opportunities to connect, reflect, and imagine new possibilities—both individually and collectively.

The artistic ecosystem in Portland is the networks of artists, organizations, venues, and educators that support creative work and cultural expression.

This flow of ideas, resources, and relationships is what sustains not just individual artists, but a vibrant, resilient creative community.

Creative Culture
in Maine

At PORTL&, we’re laying the groundwork for a more vibrant, creative future in Maine. By designing meaningful experiences and nurturing artistic collaboration, we’re building a cultural infrastructure rooted in curiosity, storytelling, and community. One story at a time, we’re contributing to a culture that values art, connection, and possibility.

PORTL& designs interactive experiences that tell stories, spark connection, and grow the future of Maine’s creative economy. Our work sits at the intersection of art, technology, and public imagination—inviting people to explore new perspectives through immersive installations, performances, and digital worlds.

why it matters?

why it matters?

what's the problem?

Maine is a magical place—but magic alone won’t solve the challenges our state faces. Creative careers with livable wages are scarce. Family-friendly cultural spaces are limited. Too many talented Mainers feel they need to leave to find opportunity, growth, and artistic fulfillment.

Maine is full of incredible artists, creators, and thinkers—but it lacks the infrastructure and long-term vision to truly support them. There aren’t enough full-time creative jobs with benefits. There aren’t enough venues that prioritize experimentation, accessibility, and year-round engagement. And there isn’t a clear pipeline for young people who want to stay in Maine and build a creative life here.

why it really matters

This work isn’t just about art—it’s about infrastructure. It’s about proving that Maine can be a national leader in creativity, innovation, and cultural entrepreneurship. We’re building a future where young creatives don’t have to choose between making a living and making meaningful work—and where the magic of Maine is something you can step into, experience, and carry with you.

here's our solution

At PORTL&, we believe immersive art can be part of the solution. By building a world-class immersive arts venue right here in Portland, we’re creating jobs in the creative sector that are full-time, financially sustainable, and rooted in community. We’re designing a space that supports artists and technologists while giving families, students, and visitors meaningful cultural experiences all year long.

our vision

This isn’t about escape. It’s about deeper engagement with art, with each other, and with the stories that shape our world and communities.

We’re inviting artists, creators, organizations, and businesses to collaborate with us in strengthening and diversifying Maine’s creative economy. Whether it’s a massive installation, a pop-up workshop, or a spark of an idea—we believe no creation is too big or too small when it comes to building something meaningful together. PORTL& is a platform for collective imagination, and we’re always looking for new partners to help shape what comes next.
